Classic Game Room – STAR WARS: REBEL ASSAULT for Sega CD review

default

Classic Game Room reviews STAR WARS REBEL ASSAULT for Sega CD from Lucas Arts released in 1993. Play as Rookie One and fight with the Alliance against the dreaded Empire in famous scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy. Blow up At-At Imperial Walkers, Tie Fighters and even bullseye womprats in your T-16. Star Wars Rebel Assault is an early game using FMV (Full Motion Video) from the Star Wars movies and even includes new scenes shot specifically for this videogame. Gameplay varies and Star Wars Rebel Assault may be slow and clumsy compared to newer Star Wars games yet it packs a unique charm with some cheesy but entertaining cut scenes and Star Wars style action. This CGR review of Star Wars Rebel Assault from Lucas Arts and JVC has gameplay from Star Wars: Rebel Assault on Sega CD. This game was also sold for PC and Star Wars Rebel Assault on 3DO.

@ 3:35 he says “Oh Kang! The ‘dong-’kong-guh-dum ‘an-gahd thank you all over the wall”. Partying with Vodka Drunkenski the night before is not without its consequences.

    @signupsigma

The TurboGrafx-16 / PC-Engine CPU while only 8-bit, the speed of the hardware was comparable to the other 16-bit systems of the era. Bit’s don’t always equal graphics abilities, example: the Atari 2600 was an 8-bit console. It has 2 GPUs; 16-bit custom video color encoder chip and 16-bit video display controller, out of 512 colors the TurboGrafx could do 482 at once!

Off-topic fun fact, the Sega Genesis was actually a 16/32-bit hybrid machine. The main CPU was 16/32-bit! o/

@signupsigma Just out of curiosity…is this the “comment” you said I deleted? ’cause as far as I can tell, it is still there.

It’s funny. Back in the day, everyone discredited the TG16 for having an 8-bit processor. Now, people are returning to the TG-16 instead of the other 16-bit consoles — for fun’s sake.

TG-16 games play like NES games but have the flashy colorful look of Neo Geo games — the best of both worlds.

I could barely tell the difference between 16-bits and 8-bits. But I surely can SEE the difference between the 256 colors TG16 and 64 colors Genesis. Compare Ghouls N Ghost to see. TOO LATE, SADLY

I want to get this on my Wii… Another guy said this was a good game whatsoever. Should I download this? I want to… but SHOULD I?

    1. Great Job! But don’t forget there are guys like you all over the world.

    Why could why understand it?

@mp4podcastDOTcom Cool. Let me know how it is.

I enjoyed playing the arcade version at the time. I liked it. ;)

  35. mp4podcastDOTcom /

@spida1a I’m getting a copy for PSP this week I’m going to do a review for it on my channel.

As much as this game had problems I still loved it. At the time it was still the best fighting game there was. It was the only fighting game in the arcade i went to.

  36. spida1a /

@mp4podcastDOTcom Nice. Have you played it at all?

  37. mp4podcastDOTcom /

Capcom release a collection remix pack on PSP and Fighting Streets is in there.

You know, I was thinking “Street Fighter 2 was awesome, I wonder what the first one was like?” And I learned something today.

  39. spida1a /

@deekay1182 I think you would enjoy the Turbo, for the most part. Thanks for watching. :)

  44. goodkarme /

    great game lol

  45. spida1a /

@c0ldb33r Thanks! Ha ha…not paying the money for this game. Maybe for a good one! :) :)

  46. c0ldb33r /

    Nice video.

Three button controller? You should get the six button.

  47. spida1a /

@hobocamptheater Yeah. It just does not translate well to the home controls. You know? It’s a shame…makes it somewhat unplayable. :)
    Thanks for watching!

  48. hobocamptheater /

the pressure pad lay out of the arcade has been recreated with time instead of force on the turbografx version. the control only sucks because unless you know the timing for force differencing you’re pretty screwed. If you can actually get the timing for force differences than you’ll be okay, sorta.
the controls still suck but with the correct timing they’ll suck less. kinda like the refurbishing of the atari 5200 controller it doesnt make the game better it just works now.

Mike seems to be the inspiration for Balrog/ M. Bison, or maybe they’re the same guy.
Joe is the reverse of Guile.

@Stevespeeze it says “faito”, japanese phonetic version of “fight”.

yeah, it does sound like Michael.
